Nick Moakes (now of Warburg's, ex this office) told me

on 28 January that there was a lot of US, UK and, to a lesser

extent, Japanese money waiting to go into the Hong Kong market when the index next fell. All the investment brokers expected

further chinese blasts (like Zhou Nan's today) but all were now

reasonably confident that the eventual outcome of the LegCo debate would be acceptable.

For what it is worth (not much I expect), Warburg's Head of Sales, who knows Lu Ping's wife and has PLA contacts, has been told that there will be good news in the near future.
