There is a possibility that the Queen may offer Mr Patten an audience during his official visit to London in April. The matter was raised during a meeting between the Secretary of State and Sir R Fellowes.

We are not yet in a position to give a firm date but 7 April seems most likely. We are in touch with the Palace and will keep you informed.
