Formal Links with "Governmental" Activities of the Commonwealth which are to be Replaced by Alternative Links

Participation as member territory in Commonwealth Youth Exchange Programme.

Transport Department and Highways Department have limited links with Commonwealth organisations in the transport field, including purchase of journals and publications and occasional attendance at conferences held on an ad hoc basis.

To consider operating exchange programmes with overseas youth ministries, both within and outside the Commonwealth. Links with

youth ministries of

Commonwealth countries will be maintained in the

general context of international youth exchange programmes.

To maintain informal links through purchase of journals and publications. Attendance at conferences may continue on an individual basis.

Education and Manpower Branch

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Scheme : reciprocal arrangement for award of scholarships for students in the Commonwealth.

Formal participation in the scheme to be ceased some time around 1994-95. The scheme will be phased out after the 1994-95 awards are made. Link may be maintained on an institution to institution basis.

Health and

Welfare Branch

Hong Kong participates in the Commonwealth Scholarship and

Commonwealth Medical Fellowship Schemes which provide training for a number of medical

practitioners.

Existing relationship can be transformed into links with individual countries and the professional bodies of these countries.
