THE FUTURE OF HONG KONG'S LINKS WITH THE COMMONWEALTH : XCX (93) 28

COMMENTARY

(a) With regard to the common law in particular, the

Attorney General said it was important that

Hong Kong maintains its

Commonwealth

connection with the

and through that body, with other

jurisdictions.

In this regard, he

common law

felt that

representatives of the HKSARG should

continue to attend the Commonwealth Law Ministers

Conference after 1997, perhaps as observers, and

this matter should be raised with the PRC

Government at an opportune moment. He was also

strongly of the view that the existing link with

Commonwealth Legal Advisory Service should be

the

maintained.
