Does the existence of CDC

investments and, where

applicable, the CDC office help in the conduct of policy

dialogue with the host government about encouraging the

development of (a) the private indigenous sector and (b) a

more amicable environment for direct foreign investment?

A number of Posts responded positively to both 9(a) and

(b). Others felt CDC had no direct effect on policy

dialogue, in several cases because the recipient government

already welcomed private sector development and direct

foreign investment.
