Government officials participated in the 2nd to 5th Confernece of Commonwealth Arts Administrators held in 1981, 1983, 1988 and 1990 but declined the invitation to attend the 6th conference scheduled to be held in October 1992 (now deferred). The Conference was retitled as "Commonwealth Conferences on Arts and Cultural Policy" in 1990.
(a) Hong Kong delegation
participates in the Commonwealth Law Conference (CLC) held every three years. Participation could also be on an individual basis.

and communicate with
Commonwealth
draftsmen through it.

The Conferences were

of little benefit to Hong Kong. It would become more "governmental" after the retitling in 1998. Hong Kong should phase out further participation by non-attendance and the link will automatically cease on 1 July 1997.
The Conference is
arranged by the
Commonwealth Lawyers'
Association and is
not a governmental organisation. Subject to the
approval of the CLC,
participation should continue on an individual basis.

participate as individuals. provides useful exchanges on law drafting problems which are similar through the Common Law and Commonwealth countries.
