Dear Joseph,
AMENDMENTS LETTERS PATENT AND ROYAL INSTRUCTIONS
1.
Thank you for your letter of 13 October.
2. Our Legal Advisers have examined the two sets of draft Hong Kong Additional Instructions attached to your letter of 27 September. The drafts appear to be in order, but we have noticed that you have decided to change the date on which certain provisions come into operation. The provisions concerned are those which amended Clause XII A of the principal Instructions i.e. Clauses 2(a)(ii), 2(a) (iii), 2 (b) (ii) and 2 (c) of the Hong Kong Additional Instructions 1993. In the 1993 Additional Instructions these provisions were to come into operation on the date of publication, but in your draft they would come into operation on the appointed day. I would be grateful if you would confirm that this is intentional.
3. I will send you within the next day or two the draft instrument revoking the 1993 Additional Instructions.
4.
On the point in paragraph 2 of your letter of 27 September, our Legal Advisers consider that it would not be appropriate to revoke and remake the Letters Patent signed on 15 April 1993.
You eve
Nijel.
