martyrs. It was clear that his Sunday Post article was the beginning of his speak out against the 1993 package campaign. He took our extensive sounding out exercise which package to introduce should we have a breakdown a lack of resolve and possibly the beginning of a "sell out". He said he could see the Governor claiming that he was ready to give HK democracy but he could not go "further than what the community wanted". Although Les could live with a stage/deal which included "single seat/single vote" for LegCo he was uneasy at the prospect of the Chinese dragging out the talks and concentrating their efforts on whittling down our proposals on BC and FCs.
