Dear Bowen
SHORT NOTE ON HONG KONG POLITICAL PARTIES
But I
1. We have been asked by the Foreign Affairs Committee for a short note on political parties in Hong Kong. We have the attached unclassified piece on the stocks which we think is about the right length and in the right amount of detail. should be grateful if you could cast an eye over it and let me know whether it is still factually correct and does not misrepresent the situation in any way. The last paragraph, in particular, is based on fairly scant information.
2. The Committee have also asked for our advice on people they might meet in Hong Kong, particularly from new groupings or organisations. I should be grateful for any such names you can suggest - by Monday 19 July if possible. The Committee will presumably already have the names of established political figures.
3.
As you have probably heard, Mr Goodlad's meeting with the FAC on Wednesday went off pretty well. I will make sure you get a copy of the transcript.
