Dear Boss Irwin,

Ва

1. In your letter to Peter Ricketts of 15 July you asked for two short notes, one on political parties in Hong Kong and one on the work of the Joint Liaison Group. We have now produced these and I am arranging for copies to be delivered to you.

2.

You also asked for advice on people the Committee might meet in Hong Kong from the newer groupings or organisations. The Committee will no doubt be talking to leaders of the main political groups in the Legislative Council. But

Mr Tsang Yok-sing, Chairman of the pro-China Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong (DAB), is not

a member of LegCo and would be worth meeting. There are also independent members of the Council well worth talking to such as Ms Christine Loh, Mr Vincent Cheng, Mr Simon Ip and

Ms Anna Wu. Mr Vincent Lo, Chairman of the Business and Professionals Federation, would also be worthwhile.

Yours sincerely,

Kay Saunder
