The Governor will be putting proposals to Legco when he has completed consultation with ExCo. Ha will alco be publishing a compendium or others'
proposals. Up to LegCo toʻreach final decisions. Will accept their judgement. Right that we should not go further than the people of Hong Kong; but equally we should not go lags Car than they want

The Election Committee (if raised): Essential point is that the elections should be fair and open.
Therefore essential that the members of the Election
Committee (who will choose: 10 members of LegCo)
should themselves be elected
proposed the simplest way of achieving this (i.e. using elected District Board manbars). If you can come up with alternative arrangements which are fair and open to cloct a wider range of people to the
Election Committee, the Governor has made it clear ne is willing to consider them.

No he has not. He has said that membero of the
Committee must be elected; he is happy to consider proposals, thal, meet this criterion and are open, and fair and acceptable to the people of Hong Kong.
