Born in Hong Kong in 1940.
Educated at St.
Paul's Convent School in Hong Kong and the University of
California, Berkeley. Executive Director of Swire Pacific
Limited and a non-executive director of the Hongkong Bank
Elevated to the peerage in 1990. Married, no
Group.

Her husband is Michael Thomas, a prominent QC in
Hong Kong and former Attorney General. Speaks Cantonese,
English, Putonghua and Shanghainese.

Baroness Dunn has been a member of the Executive
Council since 1982. As the longest serving member on the
Council, she is the Council's Senior Member (an honorific
but important position). She was an appointed member of
the Legislative Council from 1976 to 1988 and was Senior
Member from 1985 to 1988. She was a member and
subsequently chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development
Council (TDC) from 1983 to 1991, and has served on many
other trade organizations and other bodies, including the
Mass Transit Railway Corporation, the Kowloon-Canton
Railway Corporation, the Land Development Policy Committee,
the Textile Advisory Board, the Transport Advisory
Committee, and the Hong Kong Export Credit Insurance
Corporation Advisory Board.

Very intelligent and astute. Has a great deal of
influence in ExCo and the ability to talk to people of all
political backgrounds. Established a worldwide reputation
as Chairman of the TDC. An important force for stability
and a good political operator behind the scenes, although
she has no taste for electoral politics.
