Thank you for sending me a copy of Alan Mcdonald's fax of the 26th July. I have revised, and attach, the draft-

taking into account the points made in Mcdonald's faxes of 28th June and 26th July;

tidying it up generally, and rationalising various bits.

I draw attention below to the significant changes.

The main part of the Scheme

Paragraph 1:

Is it inevitable that there will be an Order notwithstanding the drop in the inflation rate ? If so and if we know the date on which the Order will come into operation, we can simply insert that date. Otherwise we may have to have something on the lines of the revised draft.

Paragraph 2(b): I have inscrted McDonald's 28th July preference.

Paragraph 2(d): is slightly expanded to make it clearer.
