CALL ON MR GOODLAD BY THE OVERSEAS SERVICE PENSIONERS

ASSOCIATION (OSPA) ON 10 MAY

Mr Pusinelli, Chairman of the Overseas Pensioners

Association (OSPA), wrote to Mr Goodlad on 5 March. He repeated the Association's request that HMG should provide a sterling pension safeguard as soon as possible and asked for a meeting

with Mr Goodlad. In his reply of 15 March, Mr Goodlad advised Mr Pusinelli of the position on the proposed pension safeguard and agreed to see representatives of the Association. A

delegation from OSPA will call on Mr Goodlad at 2.30 on 10 May.

The delegation is likely to comprise their President, Lord Grey, Mr Pusinelli and Mr Le Breton (the Secretary). Mr Whitney from this department will take the note.

2. OSPA know that we are working on a package of benefits for HMOCS to include a pension safeguard, and that possible modifications to the Supplementary Pension for Overseas Service

(SPOS) Regulations are also under consideration. They do not

know the details of the package, but are aware that the main

problem lies in securing agreement within Whitehall. They are in close contact with the HMOCS Association in Hong Kong.
