Q47. Nepal, Brunei?

A47. The current command and administrative responsibilities

of BFHK for British Gurkhas Nepal and the Brunei garrison will

be transferred to the UK (specifically HQUKLF) on 1 April

1995.

Q48. Why?

A48. To facilitate the rundown of British Forces Hong Kong.

Q49. Royal Hong Kong Reserve (Volunteers?)

A49. No change to plans already announced by HKG.

Volunteers

to disband in late 1995 (more detailed questions refer to

HKG).

Sites/Locations

Q50. Barracks plot-general: what are the plans for reducing

the defence estate?

A50. We have yet to work out a detailed barrack plot, but it

is our intention to concentrate the garrison into a lesser

number of sites once it has reduced, in order to save overhead

expenses and reduce our existing security/guarding

commitments.

Q51. Stanley?

A51. Will probably close after 1 BW have departed.

Q52. Prince of Wales Building?

A52. Likely to remain as HQBF until 1997.
