Thank you for the opportunity to comment on the draft memorandum, covering the rapid rundown of the Hong Kong garrison, which was circulated under cover of Reference.

2.

I have no difficulty with the paper as presented. The drawdown to a single battalion is likely to place greater emphasis on mobility and 28 Sqn's contribution to the security forces. Therefore, I agree, that further consideration should be given to the future size of the RAF presence in Hong Kong and my staff have already set work in hand with STC to assist with the task.
