CHAPTER 21

AMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNAL SECURITY GUIDE

INTRODUCTION

The Internal Security Guide is published with the aim of providing an easily digestible summary of the Hong Kong Government's Internal Security Organisation, as well as a work of reference for use by the various Emergency Committees, Departments, Security Forces and essential Utility Companies in dealing with any civil disturbance which

may occur.

2.

a

The ISG does not intend to be comprehensive scheme for every eventuality but does consolidate a great deal of useful information on the Government's response to an IS situation, under one

cover.

3.

Like many such documents the value of the ISG as an aid to those using it will rely heavily the information it contains being kept

upon

up-to-date.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR REVIEWING AND AMENDING THE INTERNAL SECURITY GUIDE

Annual Review

4.

It is necessary to conduct a formal annual review of the contents of the ISG.

The responsibility for reviewing the individual Chapters/Parts will lie

lie with the Branch, Department or Force whose operations the Chapter/Part describes.

5.

A list of the Heads of the Branches, Departments and Forces who will be responsible for annually reviewing each Chapter/Part of the ISG is at Annexure A to this Chapter.

Routine Amendments

6.

During the year it can be expected that a myriad of minor changes will occur within the Organisation which will affect the factual information contained in the ISG. Some telephone numbers may

be changed, as may post titles: substations and depots may open and close. It is important that such changes are reflected in the ISG as soon as possible.
