DRIVERS AND ESCORTS

7.

CGLT will not normally be responsible for supplying drivers to other departments but will assist where possible. Self drive vehicles may be authorised in an emergency if no regular drivers are available. A valid Hong Kong driving licence covering the vehicle being driven must be held by the driver concerned.

8.

All vehicles moving during a time of trouble should carry at least one other person to act as look-out and assist in an emergency. Departments using the transport are responsible for arranging their own escorts, since these cannot be provided by the Transport Pool.

9.

It will be a Police responsibility to decide whether Police escorts are required for vehicles. If a Transport Controller is in doubt as to whether it is safe for his vehicles to proceed to their destination, he should contact the appropriate District Police Commander for information both as to the route to be taken and the necessity or otherwise for an escort.
