GOVERNMENT LAND TRANSPORT

The Controller, Government Land Transport (CGLT) is responsible for providing Government departments with such transport additional to their existing holdings as is required to enable them to function during a period of civil disturbances.

CGLT will make vehicles available from the Transport Pools in Hong Kong and Kowloon, from vehicles temporarily allocated to departments but earmarked for emergency use, and from hired or requisitioned vehicles.

CGLT holds an Emergency Vehicles Allocation List and revises it in March and September every year. Departments holding transport earmarked for emergency use by others are required to maintain a record of vehicle location and availability.

The Hong Kong Transport Pool is located at the Upper Basement, Wanchai Tower I, 12 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. This also houses the Transport Operations Room. The Hung Hom Transport Pool is located in the Hung Hom Station Car Park. The Kowloon Bay Transport Pool, where all heavy goods vehicles are accommodated, is located at Cheung Yip Street/Sheung Yee Road, adjacent to the Vehicle Examination Centre, Transport Department, Kowloon

Bay.

CGLT is accommodated at GLTA Headquarters on 25/F, Wanchai Tower I, 12 Harbour Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong. CGLT is responsible for the security of the vehicle pools.
