Standby Arrangements for Electricity

13.

A few of the older stations have both electric and diesel driven pumps. The new pumping stations, however, are only operated by mains electricity with some of the bigger and more important ones being provided with duplicate mains feeders. At these pumping stations in the event of failure of power supply from one of the feeders, full pumping can still be maintained via the other feeder.

14.

All major treatment works with adjacent pumping stations are similarly fed by duplicate mains feeders with either of them providing for the full output of the installation. Other treatment works are fed by single mains feeder with back-up standby generator which is capable of maintaining full or partial operation in the event of power failure.
