The CAS may be deployed as a whole or in part, depending on the circumstances. Deployment for specific tasks is laid down in detail in CAS Operation Orders.

Powers of Personnel

Every member of the CAS authorized in that behalf by the Commissioner of Police, whether by a particular or general description, shall, when called out for service, have the same powers for the preservation of the peace, the prevention of offences and apprehension of offenders, and the same privileges, protection and immunities as the members of the Police Force.

In addition to these powers the Governor may confer on personnel of the CAS when called out for active service, such further powers as he may deem necessary for the proper performance of their duties.

SERVICE SUPPORT

Stores and Equipment

8.

Basic rescue and first aid equipment is held in District HQs, in some remote Divisional HQs and in Task Force units. Additional equipment is held at CAS HQ Main Stores, Caroline Hill Road, Hong Kong, and at the Kowloon Training Centre at Argyle Street.

Feeding

9.

Where possible, CAS units will feed themselves and canteens will be manned for this purpose. The CAS Welfare Unit will be mobilized to provide light meals or refreshments to operational staff in the field.
