Introduction

The option for

transfer will be made available once only to each overseas agreement officer who has become a permanent resident as defined under the Immigration When such an officer applies for another contract, he should be informed of the options and the consequences of apply ing for a new contract on overseas terms and conditions i.e.

that he will not thereafter be permitted to transfer to local terms and conditions and will rema in subject to localisation. He should also be informed that the

transfer to local terms and conditions, once effected, will be irrevocable. No transfer back to overseas terms and conditions will be permitted.

All applications should be examined by the Head of Department/Grade first and then submitted to the relevant Departmental Division of CSB with recommendations. CSB will process the applications and seek the Public Service Commission's advice where appropriate.

For officers who are permanent residents

Overseas agreement officers who wish to transfer to local terms and conditions should apply for transfer at the same time

as they apply for further employment beyond Lite current contraut.

For officers who are applying for naturalisation as British Dependent Territories Citizens (BDTCs)

in the majority of cases overseas officers who wish to become permanent residents have to apply for naturalisation as BDTCs first. If they want to apply for transfer to local terms and conditions while they are undergoing the naturalisation process, they should also apply at the same time as they apply for further employment beyond the current contract.
