Part 16-Declaration

When you have filled in the form, sign and date the declaration in part 16 of The form. An application will not be valid unless it has been signed and dated.

What you should submit with the form

With your application form you should submit evidence:-

that you are aged 18 or over

A letter from the Department of Inland Revenue showing that you paid tax during the qualifying period.

Any other documents which show you lived in Hong Kong during the qualifying period.

Please submit a letter from the head of department giving details of the post held and length of service. Applications on the grounds of Crown Service should normally be made through the Government Department concerned

Changes after you submit your form

The declaration in part 16 of the application form includes a promise to tell the Director of Immigration if there are any changes which affect the accuracy of any details you put on the form. It is important to do this while your application is being considered. It may remind you to do this if you keep a copy of your application form.

These are set out in the separate lees leaflet (ID 612).

After you have submitted your application

The Director of Immigration will make arrangement to interview you about your application at a later date. The officer will expect you to talk to him or her without an interpreter. You may be asked to give more details about your application. For example, if you are self-employed, or a partner or director in a company, you may be asked to show business accounts. The Director of Immigration has to consider many applications and this takes time. An acknowledgement card to show that your application form has been received will be given to you on submission of application. However, as applications take time to decide, please do not write simply to enquire about the progress of your application. If you need to get in touch with the Immigration Department about any other aspect of your application please write to the Immigration Department, Naturalisation and Nationality Section. 2nd Floor, Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, giving your full name, date and place of birth and, if known, your application reference number.
