Refund Arrangements if an officer elects to cease contribution under Section B(a) (i)

Under the SSCPS

(i)

(ii)

single officers and widows will receive a full refund of past contributions made before 1 February 1993 with interest;

divorced officers and widowers will receive a

refund of contributions made after the date of their divorce or death of their spouse respectively up to 31 January 1993 with interest;

(iii) the potential children's pension benefits in respect of widows, divorced officers

and widowers will be preserved after refunds have been made.

Under the WOPS

single officers will receive a full refund of contributions made before 1 February 1993 with interest;

divorced officers and widowers without pensionable children will receive a refund of contributions made from the date of their divorce/death of their spouse or the date on which they ceased to have any pensionable children, whichever is the later,

31 January 1993 with interest.

The

pensionable age limit for dependent children is standardised at 18, irrespective of sex and marital status, which will be extended to 23 if the children are in continuous full-time education. (Serving members may retain their existing right in respect of unmarried daughters not in full time education up to the age of 21.) Disabled children who cannot maintain

themselves are not subject to any pensionable age limit.

The Boards of Directors of the SSCPS and WOPS are granted discretion to determine dependent cohabitees of contributors as spouses for the purpose of the dependant pension schemes and to accept spouses

post-retirement marriages as

beneficiaries.
