Mr Smith's view, the additional space could be

difficult to justify as public transport is reliable and the capital cost would be relatively expensive: the latter was confirmed by Mr Newey and Mr Holdaway.

Mr Morris stated that this new requirement would need

to be submitted to Mr Hum's Steering Committee: the

Hong Kong Coordinating Committee confirmed that Mr

Morris/OED should do this on their return together with an estimate cost of the various options (new

underground storey or double stacking).

Gardens and Amenities: the Committee

requested easy access from both wings of the building and a sensible entertainment area within the garden for possible future representational purposes. The

swimming pool and amenities should be reserved for residents of the staff flats and should be separated off from the rest of the garden area.

Terraces: The Committee suggested that the

existing two roofs on level 6 and the roof area at

level 7 should be developed as terraces for possible future use as entertainment spaces. The design should

be kept simple for cost and maintenance reasons. Holdaway advised that there are no additional gross floor area implications in developing the roofs as

terraces.
