On the other hand several Sections are well over the top for example Procurement Unit by 138m2 and Commercial Section by 107m2. The individual space areas in the brief must be adhered to whenever possible.

Some of the visitors parking is inside the gateway.

Staff access from the car park to British Council building does not appear to exist.

Public are unable to gain access to Sections D and C without going through main reception controls.

The location of the main lifts in the middle of the Consulate-General building splits some Sections unnecessarily on several floors e.g. at levels 8, 9 and 10 which does not lend to good circulation, operational efficiency and security. Consideration needs to be given to location of main lifts to provide better separation of staff and public.

Access to suite D20 is via D10 which is not correct.

Substantial design development on levels 9 and 10 of the Consulate-General is required to meet the requirements of the Chancery zones.

Better/quicker access is required for visitors to Commercial and Procurement Sections. There is no need for visitors to these Sections to go through the security controls (marked xx in the design) at Main reception. Two of the bank of four lifts could be relocated and dedicated for these visitors. The other two lifts will remain dedicated for internal staff circulation and for escorted visitors to the other Sections.
