MALAYSIA/HONG KONG: LORRAIN OSMAN
1
After months of welcome silence, Kevin Cahill has apparently decided to start his letter writing campaign again. I enclose a copy of the latest missive to
Sir J Coles. It is the usual Cahill clap-trap, and as usual he is attempting to knock us off balance by threatening all sorts of public exposure.
2 There is no reason for us to change our policy of not replying substantively to Mr Cahill's rantings. Subject to your views, I propose therefore to submit a draft reply on the following lines:
"As you yourself say, the matters raised in your letter have been considered by the courts in relation to Mr Osman's eight applications for a writ of habeas corpus. A ninth application is pending. We have nothing to add".
I should like to submit a draft reply by the end of this week.
