Thank you for your letter of 3 March enclosing one from

Kevin Cahill of 56 Tavistock Place, London WC1 9 RG, about

the Lorrain Osman case.

The allegations to which Mr Cahill refers were considered

in the course of Mr Osman's seventh application for a writ of habeas corpus. The application, which was heard last month by the Divisional Court, was rejected on 28 February; Mr Osman has applied for leave to appeal to the

House of Lords.

For your own information, I enclose a copy of a background note on the case.

I am returning Mr Cahill's letter and enclosures, a copy

of which we have retained for our files.
