Thank you for your letter of 6 March enclosing one from Kevin Cahill of 56 Tavistock Place, London WC1 9RG, about

the Lorrain Osman case.

The allegations to which Mr Cahill refers were considered

in the course of Mr Osman's seventh application for a writ of habeas corpus. The application, which was heard last month by the Divisional Court, was rejected on 28

February; Mr Osman has applied for leave to appeal to the

House of Lords.

For your own information, I enclose a copy of a background note on the case.

I am returning Mr Cahill's letter and enclosures, a copy

of which we have retained for our files.
