VIETNAM VISA REGIME
1.
At a recent meeting of the Asia Pacific Advisory Group, a number of British businessmen remarked that their Vietnamese interlocutors had been very critical of the time it took to issue visas for Vietnamese officials travelling to the UK and to Hong Kong.
2.
This is not the first time we have received such complaints and now that there has been a major improvement in UK-Vietnamese relations entailing a prospect of greatly increased trade between the UK/Hong Kong and Vietnam, it may be a good time for us to start reviewing our visa regime with Vietnam.
3. I should be grateful therefore for any views you have on this by 14 July. Also, would it be possible for you to let me have a note of how time is spent on processing Vietnamese visa applications (eg can this be speeded up in any way?).
Jours sincerely,
Woodrar
