3.

At the Steering Committee meeting held on 21 November 1991, members advised that personality checks and verification interviews should be carried out for the applicants in the Immigration Department who scored the highest number of provisional points within their quota of 438. Since then, members have noted the results of personality checks and verification interviews on 101 principal applicants and their dependants, and advised that their applications be submitted to the Governor for recommendations to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens. Recently, the Immigration Department has completed personality checks and verification interviews on another 60 principal applicants, their 42 spouses and 64 minor children. The checks and interviews have not revealed any adverse information on any of these applicants or their dependants. All the 60 principal applicants and their 106 dependants appear to be suitable for recommendation by the Governor to the Secretary of State for registration as British citizens pursuant to Section 1(1) and Schedule 2 respectively of the British Nationality (Hong Kong) Act 1990, subject to confirmation of no change in the applicants' circumstances.
