A Progress Report on
the Entrepreneurs Class and the Way Forward
This paper informs members of the progress made in implementing the entrepreneurs class (EC) of the British Nationality Scheme and seeks members' advice :-
(a) whether further nominations should be sought; and

Progress General

At the meeting on 9 June 92, members noted that 178 places out of the quota of 500 had been committed and that efforts were being made to seek further information on about 1,000 nominees. Since then, another 21 invitations have been issued, bringing the total to 199. The present position of the various categories of candidates is set out in detail in the following paragraphs.
The Top List and Categories 1 and 2 Lists

In the light of the revised selection guidelines recommended by members at the meeting on 22 April 1992, 3 more candidates on the existing lists have qualified and have been invited to apply. Further information is being sought from another 5 candidates, in order to determine whether they meet the revised selection guidelines. Some 8 candidates who do not meet the selection guidelines have been informed that they will not be invited under the EC. A summary of the present position is at Annex A.
