VISIT OF MR HISASHI OWADA, JAPANESE VICE-MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS
1. Mr Owada, who is the PUS's Japanese equivalent, will be
having talks with the PUS on 9 October. The agenda, with approximate timings, is attached. The PUS has asked for minimal briefing (please see paragraph 2 below), but wishes AUSS and/or Heads of Department to be present to support him during the sessions relevant to them. I should be grateful if the recipients of this minute would give me an indication by lunchtime on Thursday 8 October who will be attending which session.

The PUS has asked for minimal briefing on most subjects (and no briefing at all on Europe). Points to make should be in the form of brief memory-joggers. Background, if needed at all,
should be as brief as possible. I should be grateful for contributions by midday on Wednesday 7 October on the following subjects.
