Secretary of State's Dinner: 21 July
Many thanks for sending me the list of guests for
the Secretary of State's dinner on 21 July.
The list looks splendid. I am particularly delighted at the idea that HRH Princess Alexandra and Angus Ogilvy should be invited.
I have only one suggestion. It would be a nice idea to include Sir Robert Black who was Governor here when I was a student. Apart from Murray MacLehose (and myself by the end of this week), he is the only other surviving former Governor of Hong Kong. His address is:
Mapletons House Ashampstead Common
Nr Reading, Berks RQ8 8QN
He is now 86 but is still in good health and, so far as I know, fit to travel.
It is a nice idea to include our two sons, Peter They would be delighted to come.
and Andrew.
For senior journalists, I suggest either Rupert Pennant-Rea of The Economist, John Gittings of The Guardian or Max Hastings of The Telegraph.
