CAREERS AND UNIVERSITY
The school has a teacher responsible for careers guidance. This begins in the Third form when students make their first round of options, and subject choice is a major component of the Third year pastoral curriculum. The danger with the British education system is one of over specialisation at an early age. Every effort is made to ensure that students pursue a broad and balanced curriculum. The same process is repeated in the Fifth form when students must choose appropriate Sixth form
courses.
The school has a well-equipped careers office and a most up to date library of university prospectuses from institutions all over the world. The school has close links with many of the world's leading universities. This is demonstrated by the fact that admissions tutors from such institutions visit school each year to look for first class students. Each year we send students to Oxbridge, the Ivy League colleges of the USA and their West Coast counterparts.
The quality of careers advice is enhanced by the access to the latest computer data bases and by a successful annual careers convention when up to 50 parents and friends of the school come in to provide to students and their families the latest information upon a whole range of careers. Housestaff and Form Tutors of senior forms are regularly provided with in- service training to ensure that students are well and sensibly advised.
