At various times during 1982 Governor of the IMF, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and IFAD.

Chairman Board of Governors, Islamic Development Bank, 1984-85.

Led all Bangladesh delegations to the Annual Meetings of these institutions from 1984 to 1987, joined the meetings of the Development Committee and Interim Committee.

Led Bangladesh delegations to the annual Aid Group meetings in 1984. 1985 1986 and 1987, and represented the Government in various capacity in all the meetings of this Group from its inception in 1974.

At various times during this period has also been on the Board of Governors of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (as Chairman Can pank of the porind). the premier economic research institution of the country.

During this period initiated major fiscal, monetary, trade and exchange rate policy reforms in Bangladesh (leading to two successful Stand-by arrangements with the Fund - and two arrangements under the Structural Adjustment Facility.} llas bean the main architect of the country's macro-economic stabilization policies and design of saving instruments, domestic resource mobilisation effort
