In consultation with IDA, initiated a study for setting up institutional arrangements and creating rooourco pools for providing self-employment opportunities to the unemployed. A project is now being processed on this for IDA support.
Strengthened the special credit programmes of nationalised commercial banks for promoting self-employment.
Strongly supported measures to promote role of NGOs in supplementing Government efforts in social sectors.
Strengthened the role of 'local consultative groupo' with donors on a sector basis, to review and monitor critical aid-supported projects and to discuss sector policies.
Introduced systematic quarterly review of all aid-financed projects within the Government in a forum chaired by the External Resource Division to identify and monitor problems in the way of aid disbursement.
Initiated the concept of 'core' programmes/projects in budgeting local currency resource support for public sector investment projects to accelerate disbursement of external assistance.
