MR PATTEN'S TRANSFER TO HONG KONG

The following costs can be met by the FCO, in addition to those specified in Mr Ricketts' minute of 30 April.
Car Freight: sea freight costs, including marine and transit insurance, for one British-built car from the UK to Hong Kong. If the car is over three years old, it will need to be certified by a qualified engineer to be in good mechanical condition and able to withstand a further three years' use.
Travel: cost of travel to the airport on first departure to Hong Kong in the form of either:
(a) mileage allowance from house to airport if travelling by car; or
(b) taxi fare from home to station, first-class rail fares to London, taxi fare from station to airport.
Transit Insurance: to cover all personal effects, including heavy baggage, air freight allowance and accompanied baggage.
