1. Vicki Baxter Amade (who is away on a course this week) promised to give you guidance on the practical arrangements for Mr Patten's appointment to Hong Kong.
2.
First, I attach details of costs which can be met by the FCO in addition to those specified in Mr Ricketts' minute of 30 April.
Travel
3.
Kelly Hawkes in the Thomas Cook Travel Centre (210-8220) has been given authority to issue flight tickets and you should contact her to arrange Mr Patten's bookings.
3. Travel to the airport, and any other necessary incidental expenditure, should be claimed on the travel claim form enclosed with this minute. The claim can be returned to Mrs Baxter Amade for counter-signing in due
course.
Baggage
4.
Pickfords have been given authority to pack and freight Mr Patten's personal effects. You will need to arrange convenient dates for survey and collection with Pickfords direct. The Manager of their FCO Implant is George Scott (210-8241). The enclosed heavy baggage booklet provides some useful guidance on packing etc.
5.
The Hong Kong Government are providing an air freight entitlement and if they have contractors these will presumably be used for this consignment. However, if they do not, Mr Patten may wish to use Hogg Robinson Embassy Freight, who currently hold the FCO contract for unaccompanied air freight. They can be contacted on 0784-251100.
6.
Transit insurance of Mr Patten's personal effects will be reimbursed by HMG. Invoices should be sent to Mrs Baxter Amade for payment, with Mr Patten's bank details. There is no specific company which needs to be used, but you may like to contact Tania Langridge of Bowring Eastern Ltd for assistance. She can be contacted on 0462-454451.
