Power/Function
To recover expenses incurred in connection with repatriation of seafarers in certain circumstances
To collect payment of fines for disciplinary offences
(a) To approve the form of log books

(a) To receive returns of births and deaths in ships; and to submit copies to the Registrar General of Births and Deaths

Proposed HK Authority
The Bill will confer similar rights on the HK Government
The Bill will empower the Superintendent* to receive payment of fines and transmit such monies to the HK Government
The Bill will provide for a log book to be in a form approved by the Director of Marine in his capacity as the Seafarers' Authority; the Bill I will also confer on
the Governor in Council power to make regulations governing the
content and delivery of log books to prescribed persons
The Bill will confer on the Governor in Council power to make regulations requiring -
(a) the submission of returns of births and deaths to the Superintendent*
(b) the Superintendent* to report these to the HK Registrar of births and Deaths
