I wrote on 3 March asking if a view had yet been reached in Hong Kong on how to react to CAAC's wish for through-running in return for trans-Asian overflying rights for Hong Kong carriers.

My letter was looking forward to Lord Brabazon's visit to Peking and Hong Kong, which has now been cancelled. But we need to carry forward the over-flying discussions with the Chinese. We will both be in Montreal in the week after next and perhaps we should aim to find time in that week to have a word on this: for you to tell me of the result of consideration in Hong Kong and for us to consider how to carry this forward exchanges with the Chinese.
