As I see it, the proposed legislation in Hong Kong has to be Compatible with the prevailing international legal standards in the field as evidenced in section 6 of the draft GATT-Trips Agreement 1992 which has modified certain standards contained in the Washington Treaty 1989.

I have also made comparative legal analyses of relevant ··domestic legislation of other countries, and wherever possible, the British provisions both under the Regulations and those cross-referred to in the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 are adopted.

Ι am very anxious to know whether any immediate amendments (except those amending the Schedúles) will be made to the substantive provisions of the Design Right (Semiconductor'· Topographies) (Amendment) Regulations 1989, and should be most grateful if you would kindly advise.
