Convention establishes uniform relating to civil jurisdiction

It provides that, in event of collision between sea-going vessels or between an inland navigation craft and a sea-going vessel, a legal action may be introduced only before the Court where the defendant has his habitual residence or place business; or before the Court where arrest the defendant's ship has been effected, or where arrest could have been effected OI other security has been furnished; or before the Court of the place of collision. A claimant shall not be allowed to bring a further action against the same defendant on facts in another jurisdiction, without discontinuing an action already instituted (Article 1).
