The
United Kingdom was a founder Member and State
signatory to the Charter and deposited its instrument of
ratification on 20 October 1945. The ratification included
Hong Kong (reference at Annex C) and the Charter has
applied to Hong Kong since the date of its entry into force
on 24 October 1945.

Articles
104-105 of the Charter provide that the
United Nations Organization shall enjoy in the territory of
each of its Members such legal capacity and privileges and
immunities as may be necessary for the exercise of its
fulfillment of its purposes.

enjoy such privileges and immunities as are necessary for
the independent exercise of their functions. The General
Assembly of the United Nations, by a Resolution adopted on
13 February 1946, approved the text of the General

Nations (text at Annex D) and proposed it for accession by
each Member of the United Nations.
