Operations designed:

to encourage Community companies to participate in prospecting for, exploring for, extracting and marketing Brazil's mineral resources:

to create activities designed to boost small and medium-sized mining

enterprises;

to exchange experience and technology with regard to ore prospecting, exploration and extraction methods; to set up joint research projects with a view to developing new technology.

(1) During negotiations on this Agreement the Brazilian delegation will be

reminded that co-operation in the mining sector will proceed more effectively if Brazil ensures equal treatment for capital, both domestic and foreign, when undertakings are set up.
