4. CO-OPERATION ON SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

(a) Objectives

The parties will:

consolidate the links between their respective scientific and

technological communities;

promote exchanges of researchers;

promote the transfer of technology on the basis of mutual benefit, encourage closer relations between Community and Brazilian research

centres;

stimulate innovation;

- identify areas of co-operation in the field of applied science and

technology.

The extent of this co-operation will be determined by the parties themselves, who will jointly select the fields they consider to have

priority.

(b) Forms

In order to achieve these objectives, a number of measures will be

implemented:

· joint research projects involving Brazilian and Community research centres and institutions as well as businesses;

- specialist or advanced training courses;
