The Government welcome closer cooperation between the

Community and Macao, and support this proposal.

Financial Implications

Activity under the Agreement will be funded from within

existing budgetary provisions.

Timetable

10. The Council authorised the Commission to open negotiations with Macao by a decision of 28 April 1992. The agreement was initialled on 12 May. We expect the agreement to be signed in

the margins of the June Foreign Affairs Council.
