Relationship between the Central Authorities and the HKSAR

Objectives

After the lessons, students should be able to :

1. explain the relationship between the Central People's

Government and the HKSAR; and

2.

state the rights of Chinese citizens who are residents of the HKSAR to participate in the management of state affairs of the PRC according to law.

I.

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE CENTRAL PEOPLE'S GOVERNMENT AND THE

HKSAR

The HKSAR shall be a local administrative region of the PRC, which shall enjoy a high degree of autonomy and come directly under the Central People's Government. [Article 12]

The Central People's Government shall responsible for the foreign affairs relating to the HKSAR. [Article 13, Para. 1]
