1997. Swire's were very satisfied with their cooperation with
CITIC and they were planning to expand this, eg in Coca-Cola franchises in China. Sir Adrian would be attending a symposium in Peking in September run by CITIC and would then see Li Peng. They intended to maintain their controlling interest in Cathay at least until 1997.
4. Cathay were very happy to continue carrying Vietnamese on
volunteer repatriation flights, but were unwilling to do so for compulsory repatriation because of the attacks to their interests overseas this engendered.
5. Swire properties were pleased that they were the project managers for the new Consulate-General building. Sir Adrian asked that he be informed if we had any difficulties over this project. Peter Sutch the chairman of their Hong Kong companies would continue in this office at least until 1997.
