In early 1992, Dr. E. Asculai visited Hong Kong and preliminary discussion on the setting up of aerial monitoring system

system in Hong

Hong Kong was made. The main functions of the system are to rapidly map the extent of radioactivity deposited on the ground and to determine the isotopic composition of the radioactive contaminants.

Preliminary preparation for setting up a prototype system has been completed, by the Royal Observatory. Dr. Asculai is scheduled to visit Hong Kong this December to carry out a series of experiments on the project. If found feasible, specifications for the system will be prepared under the guidance of the expert and a second expert visit will be required to commission the system.
